De Laura's previous school, the University of Arizona, stated that it became aware of the civil complaint in fall 2022, but allowed de Laura to continue as a student-athlete.
Following de Laura's commitment to Texas State, the team's incumbent starter, T.J. Finley, transferred to Western Kentucky.
