Overview
- The University of Texas publicly launched Bevo Lab on Friday, Oct. 23, 2026, announcing a 25,000-square-foot analytics hub in Innovation Tower with founding partners Google Cloud, Dell Technologies and SHI International.
- Bevo Lab will run on Google Cloud and use Google's Gemini AI with Dell-provided infrastructure and SHI integration, and Google engineers will help build and operate the platform.
- The platform is already in prototype and live testing, including an in-game consult used by Texas against Florida in the fourth quarter, and Texas says earlier Google work cut coaches' weekly prep by about 15 hours.
- The lab combines automated tools such as Football Scouting Intelligence and Transfer AI with video and wearable movement data, enforces team-level data silos so squads cannot query each other's records, and will expand across all 21 varsity sports.
- UT positions the lab as both a workforce pipeline and a competitive edge by training student researchers (24 hired to start, plans to scale to roughly 200 a year), while raising tangible questions about athlete privacy, data governance and how analytics will shape recruiting and pay decisions as the space is built out for full operation in 2027.
