Melinda Van Veldhuizen is pursuing an internal claim with Carnival and may sue following the incident that occurred during a family trip.

  • Melinda Van Veldhuizen, a 42-year-old Texas mom, was banned for life from Carnival Cruise Line after she was found with CBD sleep aid gummies in her bag.
  • The incident occurred at PortMiami where Van Veldhuizen was interrogated by Carnival security and police for 2.5 hours before being denied boarding.
  • The family had planned the trip to celebrate her 21st wedding anniversary and her son's senior year of high school, and had spent approximately $5,586 on the vacation.
