Texas Mascot Bevo Barred From Peach Bowl Due to Space Constraints

The iconic Longhorn steer will not join Texas for its College Football Playoff game against Arizona State, citing safety and sideline limitations at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl organizers announced that Bevo XV, Texas' live mascot, will not be allowed on the sidelines for the Jan. 1 game against Arizona State due to limited space at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
This marks the second time this month that Bevo has been excluded from a game at the venue, following his absence from the SEC Championship game against Georgia on December 7.
The decision was made to prioritize safety for Bevo, players, staff, media, and others on the crowded sidelines, as the 1,700-pound steer requires a large enclosure for containment.
Bevo's absence brings back memories of a 2019 incident at the Sugar Bowl when the mascot broke through a barricade and nearly collided with Georgia's live mascot, Uga.
Texas, fresh off a 38-24 victory over Clemson in the first round of the College Football Playoff, enters the Peach Bowl as favorites to advance to the semifinals.
