Texas Man Indicted Over Alleged Threats to Louisville’s Jeff Brohm, Family and Players

An arrest warrant is in effect with bond set at $100,000 ahead of a Nov. 17 arraignment.

Overview

  • A Jefferson County grand jury indicted Brian S. Mandel, 38, of Corpus Christi, on six counts of second-degree terroristic threatening and one count of attempted theft by extortion.
  • Court records say the alleged threats occurred Nov. 8–9 following Louisville’s 29-26 overtime loss to California.
  • The indictment lists head coach Jeff Brohm, his wife and family, offensive coordinator Brian Brohm, and quarterback Miller Moss among the targets.
  • Prosecutors allege Mandel tried to obtain more than $10,000 from Moss by threatening to inflict bodily injury on him and individuals associated with him.
  • A judge issued a warrant and set cash bond at $100,000; as of the latest reports Mandel was not yet in custody, a UofL police officer is the complaining witness, and the university condemned the threats and said it is cooperating with authorities.
