Texas Man Indicted for Threatening to Kill Rep. Maxine Waters Over Racial Voicemails

A Texas man named Brian Michael Gaherty was indicted for threatening to kill Rep. Maxine Waters, a Democrat from California, in voicemails sent to her office.
Gaherty left four voicemails containing threats and racial slurs directed at Waters between August and November of last year.
Gaherty has also threatened other congresswomen of color in the past.
Gaherty faces up to 10 years in prison for threatening a member of Congress and 5 years for making threats across state lines.
Threats against members of Congress have decreased this year but are still viewed as too high, especially in California and Florida.
