Overview
- Terrance Jermaine Sandles, 46, of Houston, was arraigned on two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of armed robbery and multiple weapons offenses, with prosecutors pursuing a fourth-offense habitual offender enhancement.
- Victims were identified as dealership owner Marvan Batoo, 40, and customer Ghaith Baban, 48, who were found shot in the Star Auto Sales office on Nov. 7.
- Police arrested Sandles during a no-knock raid at a Romulus hotel, where they say they recovered firearms, cash taken from the dealership and a large quantity of cocaine.
- Investigators say surveillance footage, FLOCK license-plate data and cellphone location information tied Sandles to the scene and led them to the hotel, where he had been staying using a rental vehicle.
- Sandles is being held at the Macomb County Jail without bond with court dates set for Nov. 24 and Dec. 1, and authorities note an outstanding Texas warrant that could prompt extradition after the Michigan case.
