Texas Leading Rusher Quintrevion Wisner to Enter Transfer Portal Ahead of Citrus Bowl

The junior’s exit leaves a depleted backfield for Steve Sarkisian’s program.

Overview

  • Wisner’s agent, Grayson Sheena of AiC Sports, confirmed to ESPN and On3 that he will enter the portal when it opens Jan. 2.
  • His decision makes him the fourth Texas running back to declare this cycle, joining CJ Baxter, Jerrick Gibson and Rickey Stewart Jr., and the 13th Longhorn overall to announce portal plans.
  • Wisner led Texas in rushing the past two seasons, posting 1,064 yards in 2024 and 597 yards in 2025 despite missing three games with a leg injury.
  • He is not expected to play against Michigan in the Dec. 31 Citrus Bowl, leaving freshmen Christian Clark and James Simon as the top available scholarship backs.
  • Texas recently replaced running backs coach Chad Scott with Florida’s Jabbar Juluke and is expected to pursue experienced rushers during the Jan. 2–16 transfer window.
