- Agent Grayson Sheena told ESPN that Wisner will enter the NCAA transfer portal when it opens, and On3’s Pete Nakos corroborated the plan.
- Wisner is not expected to play against Michigan on Dec. 31, leaving Christian Clark and James Simon to handle most of Texas’ carries in the Citrus Bowl.
- He becomes the fourth Longhorns running back to head to the portal this season, joining CJ Baxter, Jerrick Gibson and Rickey Stewart Jr., and the 13th Texas player overall.
- The junior led Texas in rushing in 2024 and 2025, posting 1,064 yards last season and 597 this year despite missing three games, and he has one year of eligibility left.
- Texas recently replaced running backs coach Chad Scott with Jabbar Juluke, and the staff is expected to work the Jan. 2–16 window to rebuild the position group.
