Texas Judge Rejects GOP Lawsuit to Overturn 2022 Harris County Election Results

Controversial lawsuit by Republicans failed to provide evidence of voting irregularities, ruling undermines remaining challenges to local 2022 election results.

The Texas judge, David Peeples, rejected the GOP lawsuit trying to overturn the results of a Harris County judicial race, in which GOP candidate Erin Lunceford alleged ballot shortages and illegal voting led to her defeat.
No Republican voters testified that they were unable to vote during the election, undermining Lunceford's claims of voting irregularities.
The ruling also impacts 17 other local election result contests being challenged in Harris County.
Harris County Attorney Christian Menefee, a Democrat, confirmed that the Republican candidates lost the 2022 election and hopes for the party to move on.
Harris County elections have been on Republican scrutiny for several years, with issues such as long lines, poll worker shortages and late-counted ballots. In the last ten years, the country's voting pattern has significantly shifted towards the Democratic side due to demographic changes.
