Overview

• Texas Gov. Greg Abbott reported that at least 109 people have died in the July 4 floods, with 87 fatalities in Kerr County—including 30 children—and over 160 individuals still unaccounted for.
• All 28 recreational vehicles at Blue Oak RV Park were swept away as the waters rose, and recovery teams have retrieved eight bodies while roughly 40 visitors remain missing between Blue Oak and the neighboring campground.
• Park owner Lorena Guillen and her husband described racing through pitch-black floodwaters to bang on RV doors and alert trapped families as the river surged.
• Witnesses said the Guadalupe River climbed more than ten feet above its banks in minutes, carrying cars and cabins downstream and smashing them against trees.
• Guillen said she contacted the Kerr County sheriff’s office around 2:30 a.m. to inquire about evacuations but was told there was no information before the flood struck without warning.
