Texas Election Day: Polls Open 7 a.m.–7 p.m., Photo ID Required

VoteTexas.gov provides polling-site lookups plus a declaration option for voters without photo ID.

Overview

  • Texans vote today on 17 statewide constitutional amendments, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and anyone in line at closing allowed to cast a ballot.
  • Accepted photo IDs include a Texas driver license, election identification certificate, personal ID card, handgun license, U.S. passport, U.S. military ID with photo, or U.S. citizenship certificate with photo.
  • For voters ages 18–69, an acceptable photo ID must be current or expired no more than four years, and voters 70 or older may use an acceptable ID regardless of expiration if otherwise valid.
  • Voters without an acceptable photo ID may present a supporting document such as a utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or voter registration certificate and must complete a Reasonable Impediment Declaration at the polling place.
  • In many counties voters can use any countywide vote center, while others require precinct-specific sites, so officials direct voters to confirm locations using the Secretary of State’s online portals.
