Texas Detention Officer Killed in Attack by Inmate at Ellis County Jail

Isaiah Patrick Bias, 28, was fatally assaulted by an inmate during a cell transfer; the suspect faces capital murder charges.

Isaiah Patrick Bias, a 28-year-old detention officer with over six years of service, was killed on Monday at the Ellis County Jail in Waxahachie, Texas.
The suspect, Arron Semeion Thompson, 45, attacked Bias during a routine cell transfer after his one-hour recreational period.
Thompson, who was being held in isolation for 23 hours a day, has been charged with capital murder and is being held on a $2 million bond at another facility.
Sheriff Brad Norman described the attack as a 'heinous, horrific, purposeful murder' and expressed his support for seeking the death penalty.
The Texas Rangers are investigating the incident, and counseling services have been made available to jail staff in the wake of Bias' death.
