Overview
- Alaska State Troopers identified the victim as 36-year-old Britian Pool of Texas, who died after sliding down a steep slope off the Mount Roberts trail on Sept. 16.
 - Troopers were alerted around 8 p.m., and Juneau Mountain Rescue extracted a second hiker with minor injuries.
 - Drones located Pool farther down the mountainside, and volunteers recovered his body for transport to the State Medical Examiner after next-of-kin notification.
 - Both men were cruise visitors who inadvertently followed a non-trail path near the tram during hazardous conditions of darkness, dense fog, light rain, and slick ground.
 - SEADOGS and Capital City Fire/Rescue supported the operation, authorities have not named the cruise ship, and a comparable hiker death in the area was reported in July.
