• 77-year-old Texas attorney Ronald Lewis has been arrested and charged with two felony counts of bringing a prohibited substance into a correctional facility.
• Lewis is accused of smuggling narcotics into the Harris County Jail by lacing legal documents with drugs such as ecstasy and synthetic marijuana, which he then delivered to inmates.
• From July to November, Lewis visited 14 inmates and approximately 154 sheets of paper laced with narcotics were confiscated from the jail.
• Two inmate deaths that were possibly drug-related prompted the investigation into narcotics being smuggled into the jail.
• Authorities are working with Texas Rangers to determine if any narcotics Lewis introduced to the jail led to the death of an inmate.
