Republican Senator Drew Springer Urges Colleagues to Reconsider After Paxton's Response to Whistleblower Lawsuit

Republican state senator Drew Springer has called for the reopening of the impeachment case against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
Paxton was acquitted in September 2023 of impeachment charges related to accusations of bribery, disregard of official duty, and dereliction of duty.
Springer's call comes after Paxton amended his response to a whistleblower lawsuit, saying he would not contest allegations, which Springer interprets as an admission of guilt.
Paxton's decision could potentially expose Texas taxpayers to a settlement of over $3.3 million.
Springer was among the 16 Republican senators who voted to acquit Paxton on all charges.
