Texas Accused of Unconstitutional Border Blockade After Migrant Drownings

Texas's actions to block federal agents from a section of the border near Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, where a migrant mother and two children drowned, have been declared unconstitutional by the Biden administration.
The Texas military department (TMD) fenced off the park last week on the orders of Republican Governor Greg Abbott, who stated that border patrol was no longer allowed on the property.
Despite the drownings, Texas has continued to deny full access to the area, leading to an escalation of the feud between Governor Abbott and the Biden administration over immigration enforcement.
Texas officials have challenged the government's version of events, stating that the drownings had already occurred and Mexican authorities were recovering the bodies by the time Border Patrol requested access.
National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd praised Governor Abbott for blocking off part of the southern border, stating it allows resources to be deployed to other areas.
