Overview

  • The Texans’ one-year agreement with Arnette depends on a corresponding roster move to clear space from their current 90-man roster.
  • Originally the No. 19 overall pick by the Raiders in 2020, Arnette played two injury-marred seasons in Las Vegas and spent last year with the UFL’s Houston Roughnecks.
  • He faced multiple legal issues, from a 2021 hit-and-run and brandishing a firearm to assault and weapons charges, which resulted in his release from previous NFL teams.
  • Arnette, 28, registered 18 tackles, a sack and a pick-six with the Roughnecks and has publicly stated his goal of turning his career around.
  • In training camp he will compete with starters Derek Stingley Jr. and Kamari Lassiter as well as backups Tremon Smith, Keydrain Calligan and Jaylin Smith for playing time.
