Tether Secures Commitments From 15 Mining Firms for Open-Source MDK

The project creates a common 'Worker' interface to let AI agents control diverse mining hardware with a stable 1.0 planned for December.

Overview

  • Tether said Saturday that 15 companies including Bitmain, MicroBT, Canaan, Foundry Digital and F2Pool committed to develop and maintain MDK integrations called 'Workers'.
  • MDK bundles a JavaScript SDK, a library of React UI components and a central orchestration kernel to standardize how apps talk to mining machines and pools.
  • Each participating firm has agreed to build a Worker that translates its proprietary device or pool data into the MDK format rather than replace existing hardware or operating systems.
  • Tether presented MDK version 0.11 at the Plan ₿ Forum and says its QVAC mining agent already runs on the kit, but reporters note the commitments reflect planned integrations not verified, network-wide deployments or performance gains.
  • The effort builds on Tether’s February open-source MiningOS and signals the company’s wider push into Bitcoin infrastructure and AI tooling that could let operators use unified monitoring and automation across mixed fleets.
