Overview
- Tesla’s second Experience Centre in India is on track to open in Aerocity near New Delhi’s IGI Airport in August following near completion of its under-construction facade.
- The company opened its first showroom in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex in early July and has since extended Model Y bookings nationwide, prioritising deliveries in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Gurugram.
- Tesla currently offers two Model Y rear-wheel-drive variants in India at ex-showroom prices of ₹59.89 lakh for the standard model and ₹67.89 lakh for the Long Range version.
- A 110 percent import duty on vehicles priced above $40,000 has led Tesla to import Model Y units from its Shanghai Gigafactory rather than pursue local assembly.
- Despite government incentives for domestic manufacturing, Tesla has confirmed it will defer local production until policy conditions become more favourable.
