Overview

  • Early access riders can hail vehicles via Tesla’s app between 6 am and midnight within a defined Austin zone that excludes airports.
  • Each ride will include a Tesla Safety Monitor in the front passenger seat to oversee vehicle operations.
  • The rollout follows 3.6 billion miles driven by Tesla’s Full Self-Driving system as the company moves toward broader autonomy.
  • Wedbush Securities projects the robotaxi unit could add up to $1 trillion to Tesla’s valuation after the company reported a 20% drop in auto sales revenue.
  • Tesla plans to expand to additional U.S. cities, develop its dedicated Cybercab model by 2026 and face competition from Waymo and Cruise.
