Overview
- Tesla activated its first complete V4 Supercharger site in Redwood City with stalls powered by new V4 cabinets capable of up to 500 kW.
- Access at launch is limited to Tesla vehicles, with the company saying non-Tesla EVs will be added soon following final engineering checks.
- Tesla showed a Cybertruck hitting the 500 kW peak, while current Model 3, S, X, and Y remain capped by their vehicle architecture and will not see faster rates.
- Tesla Charging says each V4 cabinet delivers 0.5 MW with three times the power density, supports two stalls per cabinet, and is designed for higher throughput, efficiency, lower cost, and faster deployments.
- Charging director Max de Zegher said the V4 technology enables a 1.2 MW configuration for the Semi and can efficiently share 1.2 MW or 1 MW across eight V4 posts for passenger cars.
