- Siddharth Jain, executive director at INOX Group, said he took delivery of what he calls India Inc’s first Tesla Model Y on September 15.
- The retail handover follows an earlier ceremonial delivery to Maharashtra transport minister Pratap Sarnaik at Tesla’s Mumbai Experience Centre.
- Tesla began bookings in July with a showroom in Mumbai and a leased site in Delhi’s Aerocity, with initial deliveries focused on Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Gurugram.
- The Model Y is listed at Rs 59.89 lakh for RWD and Rs 67.89 lakh for Long Range AWD ex-showroom, with imported EVs over $40,000 facing a 110% duty.
- Bloomberg has reported about 600 orders since July and expected 2025 shipments of roughly 350–500 Shanghai-built units, with no current plan for local manufacturing.
