Overview

  • Tesla launched updated Model S and Model X variants in the U.S., raising prices by $5,000 for both all-wheel-drive and Plaid trims.
  • The Model S Long Range now delivers up to 410 miles per charge and the Model X variants gain up to 352 miles through improved aerodynamics, new wheels and revised suspension.
  • The updates add a quieter cabin with enhanced active noise cancellation, dynamic ambient lighting, a front bumper camera and a new Frost Blue paint option.
  • The Model S Plaid and Model X Plaid carry weight increases of 26 and 186 pounds respectively, and the refresh does not include the Cybertruck’s steer-by-wire steering or 800-volt battery architecture.
  • Customers and EV enthusiasts have criticized the mild upgrades and higher costs as rival brands such as BYD, Rivian and Lucid continue to gain market share.
