Tesla Plans Major Megapack Battery Factory Near Houston

The project in Waller County is expected to create 1,500 jobs and involve significant facility upgrades and new construction.

Tesla is set to establish a new Megapack battery manufacturing facility in Brookshire, Texas, near Houston, according to a tax abatement agreement with Waller County.
The facility will occupy a 1-million-square-foot building Tesla has leased since 2021, with plans for an additional 600,000-square-foot distribution and manufacturing space.
The project is expected to generate 1,500 jobs within three years and involves $194 million in facility improvements and manufacturing equipment investment.
Tesla’s Megapack batteries are utility-grade systems designed to store renewable energy for grid-scale redistribution during peak demand periods.
This will be Tesla’s third Megapack factory globally, joining existing sites in California and Shanghai, with the potential for significant production capacity to support the company’s growing energy business.
