Tesla Disables Passenger Video Game Feature After US Safety Probe

US highway safety regulators investigated Tesla for allowing video games to be played on center touch screens while vehicles were moving.
Tesla disabled the “passenger play” feature in December 2021 under pressure from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The NHTSA was concerned the feature could cause distracted driving and closed its probe after Tesla took action.
The software update covered more than 580,000 Tesla vehicles sold between 2017 and 2022.
The NHTSA is still investigating Tesla’s Autopilot driver assistance system over crashes involving emergency vehicles.
