Tesla Adjusts Self-Driving Software in China to Meet New Regulatory Standards

Tesla is modifying its Full Self-Driving (FSD) software to comply with China's new regulatory framework for intelligent connected vehicles.
The company has extended FSD compatibility to include both HW3 and HW4 vehicles, with internal testing of FSD Version 12.6 on HW3 underway.
A one-month free trial of FSD in China, launched in March, has been paused pending regulatory approval for the updated software.
Tesla has adjusted its branding in China, removing explicit references to 'FSD' in the user interface to better align with local expectations.
Despite these regulatory challenges, Tesla registered 15,300 vehicles in China during the week of March 11–17, marking its strongest weekly performance this year.
