Overview

  • From around 7pm each evening, Tesco will mark down loose bakery products by half, with timing varying by store.
  • The reduction covers pastries such as croissants and twists but excludes bread and gingerbread.
  • All-butter croissants in plain, chocolate and almond flavours drop from £1.20 to 60p under the scheme.
  • In a parallel trial, selected Tesco Express outlets are giving away unsold yellow-sticker items free of charge after 9.30pm.
  • Tesco’s initiative builds on broader UK supermarket efforts to cut food waste and ease pressure on shoppers facing rising living costs.
