Terry Tang Appointed as First Female Interim Executive Editor of Los Angeles Times

Terry Tang, the editorial page editor of the Los Angeles Times, has been appointed as the interim executive editor, making her the first woman to lead the paper.
The appointment comes in the wake of significant upheaval at the Times, including the resignation of former executive editor Kevin Merida, the departure of two managing editors, and a round of layoffs that cut more than 20% of the newsroom.
Tang, who has worked at the Times since 2019 and led the editorial page since 2022, will continue to oversee the editorial page in addition to her new role.
Prior to her work at the Times, Tang served as the director of publications and editorial at the American Civil Liberties Union and held multiple roles at the New York Times.
Times owner Patrick Soon-Shiong praised Tang's leadership and commitment to highlighting important issues, particularly those affecting underrepresented voices.
