The crash occurred after he dozed off at the wheel during a drive to St. Louis following a late-night autograph session

  • The 78-year-old former REO Speedwagon frontman crashed his vehicle near Arcola, Illinois, after falling asleep behind the wheel on Sunday morning.
  • The single-vehicle accident took place hours after Luttrell helped reunite former members for a one-off farewell show at Champaign’s State Farm Center.
  • Airbag deployment cracked his sternum and he also reported back and neck pain from the rollover.
  • Luttrell is receiving rehabilitation at Carle Foundation Hospital and is expected to remain there for several days.
  • Some of the nurses treating him had attended the concert and former bandmate Kevin Cronin has publicly wished him a speedy recovery.
