Terrence Shannon Jr. returned to the court for the first time since his suspension, scoring 16 points in 28 minutes to help No. 14 Illinois beat Rutgers 86-63.
Shannon was suspended on Dec. 28 due to a rape charge related to a September incident in Kansas, but was reinstated after a judge ruled that the university had violated his civil rights.
Justin Harmon led the scoring for Illinois with 18 points, while Quincy Guerrier contributed 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Clifford Omoruyi was the top scorer for Rutgers with 22 points and nine rebounds.
This is the highest-scoring Illinois team in three decades, averaging 82.1 points per game.
