Tennessee Man Sentenced to 261 Years for Five Murders After Calling Himself a 'Serial Killer'

Joshua Dotson, who compared himself to fictional killer Michael Myers, was convicted of murdering his pregnant ex-girlfriend and later confessed to three additional killings.

Joshua Dotson, 25, was sentenced to a total of 261 years in prison after pleading guilty to five murders, including that of his pregnant ex-girlfriend and her unborn child in 2020.
Dotson testified during his trial, referring to himself as a 'serial killer' and likening himself to Michael Myers from the 'Halloween' films.
He was initially sentenced to 102 years for the murder of Jamesha Covson and her unborn baby; an additional 159 years were added for three other murders he confessed to during his trial.
The additional victims included Divieon Parker, Renita Bennett, and Reginald Anderson, all of whom were killed in separate incidents between 2019 and 2020.
Prosecutors expressed relief that Dotson will never pose a threat to the community again, though they acknowledged that no sentence can bring closure to the victims' families.
