Overview

  • Prosecutors allege the 69-year-old used identities of deceased or retired baseball players to submit hundreds of fraudulent class-action claims that sought or obtained more than $550,000.
  • From January 2023 to July 2025, he allegedly opened numerous P.O. boxes across Tennessee and funneled proceeds through a sham entity called El Mundo Marketing, LLC.
  • The indictment charges mail fraud, aggravated identity theft, fraudulent use of Social Security numbers, money laundering, false statements to a probation officer, and possession of firearms by a felon.
  • Investigators from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the Social Security Administration, and Morristown Police assisted, and the filing omits player names while describing some linked to defunct teams.
  • He previously pleaded guilty in 2020 to a Social Security fraud scheme, made an initial appearance on August 21, was ordered detained, and will be tried in U.S. District Court in Greeneville, Tennessee.
