Tennessee High School Students Uncover New Lead in 'Redhead Murders' Cold Case
Jerry Johns, Identified as the 'Bible Belt Strangler', is Now a Prime Suspect in the Investigation
- High school students in Tennessee have unearthed a new lead in the decades-old 'Redhead Murders' cold case, identifying a possible suspect in the string of slayings.
- The students, under the guidance of their sociology and history teacher Alex Campbell, connected at least six of the victims to a man they dubbed the 'Bible Belt Strangler'.
- The 'Bible Belt Strangler', later identified as Jerry Johns, was a convicted felon who died in prison in 2015 while serving a sentence for strangling a sex worker.
- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has since announced that they are looking into Johns' role in the murders, but have not given credit to the students for their findings.
- The sole surviving victim of the 'Bible Belt Strangler' has spoken out for the first time, sharing her experience on the Murder 101 podcast, which was created by the students to reveal their findings.
