Overview
- A week-long simulation focused on Garachico is scheduled for late September, with an islandwide ES-Alert test planned at 9am on the exercise’s opening day.
- Evacuation exercises will begin in Garachico’s Muelle Viejo area, with residents guided through routes and procedures during the drill.
- More than 1,000 participants from emergency services, scientific institutions, the Red Cross and the Military Emergency Unit will be mobilised.
- The operation is part of the EU MODEX Civil Protection project to validate coordination, logistics and emergency response.
- Authorities and Involcan emphasise that recent shallow tremors at Teide are not linked to imminent magma movement.
