Tenders Launched for Paribahan Nagar Bus and Truck Terminals in Siliguri

Tenders have been launched for Paribahan Nagar facilities to shift long-distance traffic out of Siliguri’s crowded city centre.

Overview

  • The state transport department has sanctioned ₹2.4 crore for a new bus terminus at Paribahan Nagar with space for at least 70 buses and amenities including ticket counters, passenger sheds and a cafeteria.
  • An additional ₹45 lakh allocation will upgrade the adjacent truck terminal to accommodate up to 40 trucks with driver accommodations and sanitary blocks.
  • Tender processes for both the bus and truck terminals have been initiated by the SJDA and Siliguri Municipal Corporation, with preparatory work due to begin shortly.
  • Mayor Gautam Deb confirmed that long-distance buses will be barred from entering Siliguri once the new terminus is operational to alleviate Hill Cart Road congestion.
  • Parallel initiatives include a nine-acre Mallaguri bus terminus, a dedicated kiosk zone at North Bengal Medical College & Hospital and road repairs for the fourth and fifth Mahananda bridges.
