Overview
- The ten, carrying a combined reward of about Rs 2.36 crore, laid down two AK-47s, two INSAS rifles, an SLR, single-shot rifles, BGL cells, detonators, walkie-talkies and over 100 rounds.
- Backchannel talks brokered through a Kanha Tiger Reserve forest guard and the Hawk Force’s intelligence unit led to the late December 6 contact and a public handover before Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on December 7.
- The cadres belonged to the Kanha–Bhoramdeo division of the MMC zone, included four women, and featured top figures Surendar alias Kabir and senior operative Rakesh Hodi.
- Authorities said the group will be processed under Madhya Pradesh’s surrender–rehabilitation framework as security forces expand camps, add manpower and pursue a surrender-or-neutralisation push targeting January 2026.
- The surrender coincides with a broader wave across the MMC zone, with recent group surrenders in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh and police assessments suggesting only a small number of armed cadres remain at large.
