Overview

• Rimini tops waste generation with 76.8 kilograms of tourism-related refuse per visitor, far exceeding other hotspots.
• Bolzano leads in tourist intensity with nearly 69 visitors per resident and Venice records about 47 tourists per resident.
• Six provinces including Rieti, Benevento and Reggio Calabria remain at the opposite end with minimal tourism pressure.
• Regional authorities plan to use the ICST’s metrics on density, infrastructure use, tourist–resident ratios and waste to craft targeted sustainability measures.
