Temporary Transmitters Restore Free-to-Air TV to Bendigo Region

Signals are operating with reduced coverage pending a full-power rebuild at the fire-damaged Mount Alexander site.

Overview

  • Temporary equipment installed at Mount Alexander returned multiple networks to air from 5:00pm AEDT on January 21 after the January 9 bushfire outage.
  • Seven (Seven, 7mate), WIN (9, 9Gem), Network 10 (10, 10 Drama), ABC and SBS are broadcasting again across the Bendigo area.
  • All ABC TV services, including ABC News, ABC Entertains and ABC Kids, were restored in time for the evening news.
  • Coverage remains smaller than pre-fire levels and signals may be unstable initially, with improvements expected as rebuild work progresses.
  • ABC radio is expected to resume on regular frequencies around January 22 with a reduced footprint, while the Mount Alexander fixed wireless NBN site remains offline and hazardous under restricted access.
