Overview

  • Temple postponed its originally planned July transfer to allow months of emergency simulations and hands-on drills that prepare staff for labor-and-delivery emergencies.
  • The renovated 1331 E. Wyoming Ave. site includes 13 labor-and-delivery rooms, 32 maternity beds and a 41-bed neonatal intensive care unit to boost perinatal capacity.
  • New wraparound programs offer prenatal and postpartum mental health support, a specialized unit for opioid-exposed newborns using the “eat, sleep, console” model and an on-site WIC office.
  • Community health workers will provide follow-up care through the first postpartum year and digital tools will help patients manage appointments and access educational resources.
  • Temple Health’s $64 million renovation of the former CTCA site is backed by about $38 million in grants and major gifts from the William Penn Foundation and the Percival Roberts Jr. Trust.
