- Early-morning AEST reports and Downdetector data show a large surge in outage reports that began around 5am with a further spike before 6am.
- Telstra has acknowledged the problem, said it is investigating an issue affecting some mobile calls and data connections, and asked customers to retry connections while it works on a fix.
- Customers of several MVNOs that use Telstra’s network, including Boost, Aldi Mobile, Tangerine, Belong and Everyday Mobile, are also reporting loss of voice and data service.
- Calls to Triple Zero (000) are being routed through other providers’ networks and are reported to remain available despite the disruption.
- Telstra runs Australia’s largest mobile network with about 24.9 million retail mobile services and faces increased public and regulator scrutiny after a more than $3 million fine in 2024 for a previous outage.
