- On June 15, the Hamburger Kunsthalle became the latest institution in the Bei Anruf Kultur network, bringing the total to 111 museums offering telephone-guided tours.
- Launched in February 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic, the free service targets blind, visually impaired, mobility-restricted, and low-income participants.
- Guides receive specialized training to convey artworks’ forms, colors, textures, and spatial context without visual aids.
- Current funding from Aktion Mensch and the Hamburg Culture Authority amounts to about €105,000 annually, covering just over half of the €200,000 needed.
- To maintain and expand the program, organizers are seeking additional donations from individuals, foundations and companies to fill a roughly €95,000 gap.
