Overview
- Telegram widened access to Money on Oct. 9, making the in-chat Gram wallet appear for recipients of incoming transfers so more users can send, receive and spend Gram inside conversations.
- Money is a native, non-custodial wallet that lets users store and send Gram and buy Telegram gifts or collectible usernames, with the Money section appearing after an incoming transfer and top-ups available from Walt.
- Walt remains a distinct service for trading, custody and multi-asset products, supporting more than 300 assets and acting as the primary on-ramp to top up Money and handle advanced investment features.
- The Gram token was renamed from Toncoin on June 15 without any token swap or migration, and the rollout of Money pushed GRAM's price up about 9% to roughly $1.56 with higher trading volume.
- Users bear custody responsibility because Money is non-custodial, transfers are hard to reverse, availability will expand gradually by region and account, and U.S. tax and regulatory rules still apply to crypto activity.
