Overview
- Telangana’s status note says only 5.62 lakh tonnes reached the state against 8.30 lakh tonnes planned for April–August, leaving stocks at about 0.40 lakh tonnes when over 4 lakh tonnes were needed at this stage.
- Ministers told RFCL the plant ran just 40 of 145 days this season and that 62,473 tonnes of Telangana’s quota remain undelivered, urging at least one rake per day via NFL until production stabilises.
- The Centre maintains national availability is adequate, citing 183 LMT against a 143 LMT requirement, a claim at odds with the state’s reported deficit and farmers’ queues and protests across districts.
- The Union Department of Fertilisers reallocated supplies, including a 28,600-tonne allotment on August 20 with partial dispatches reported, as Telangana seeks faster indigenous and import flows.
- Neighbouring Andhra Pradesh ordered most fertiliser distribution through Markfed with strict checks to curb diversion, while Punjab authorities reported seizures of subsidised urea allegedly routed to industry.
