Overview
- TGSPDCL and TG-Transco approved a targeted program covering 3,866 distribution transformers and 431 power transformers across the southern network.
- For the first time in the Discom’s jurisdiction, 1,000 kVA distribution transformers will replace overloaded 500 kVA units, primarily in Greater Hyderabad, to tackle space constraints.
- High-capacity 16 MVA transformers will be installed at 33/11 kV substations serving load pockets such as Jubilee Hills, Madhapur, Manikonda, Gachibowli and Medchal, with additional sites including Patancheru and R. C. Puram.
- The plan orders field assessments and detailed designs within a week, initiation of the summer action plan by end-October, repair and maintenance by month-end and completion of all works by December.
- Leadership projected next summer’s peak at 19,500–20,000 MW with Greater Hyderabad around 5,000 MW, and convened a joint review at the Mint Compound office with senior Transco and Discom engineers to coordinate delivery.
