Telangana Unveils North East Annexe Plan in Future City, Pledges Free Land for State Bhavans

The initiative seeks to make Hyderabad a Northeastern outreach hub by offering plots in Mucherla’s planned 30,000-acre city under gubernatorial coordination with the Union ministry.

Overview

  • Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced the plan during the Telangana–North East Connect festival in Hyderabad on November 20–21.
  • Each of the eight Northeastern states will be allotted space to build its own bhavan with hostels, food courts, handicraft displays and cultural exhibition areas.
  • The state said the land would be provided free of cost and that it will work with the Ministry for Development of the North Eastern Region, with Governor Jishnu Dev Varma proposed to lead the effort.
  • The annexe is planned within the proposed Bharat/Future City at Mucherla, about 50 km from Hyderabad, which is envisioned as a 30,000-acre development.
  • The festival’s film segment opened at Prasads IMAX with the Governor in attendance, spotlighting broader ties in healthcare, information technology, women’s empowerment and the creative sector.
