Telangana Unveils Medaram Jatara Overhaul, Sets 100-Day Deadline

The chief minister pressed for national festival recognition with central funding support to back permanent, tribe-consulted upgrades.

  • Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy unveiled designs for rebuilding the Sammakka–Saralamma platforms and called on the Union government to grant national festival status with funds.
  • He directed officials to complete expansion works within 100 days so the site is ready before the Maha Jatara scheduled for January 28–31, 2026.
  • During a review at Medaram, he inspected the temple area, took feedback from priests and tribal elders, and signalled immediate groundwork through planned foundation-laying.
  • Planned works include grand welcome arches, renovated darshan areas for offerings of bangaram, and improved bathing facilities at Jampanna Vagu using durable stone construction.
  • Officials said development will respect Adivasi traditions and support year-round spiritual and eco-tourism linked to Ramappa Temple, Ghanpur Kotagullu and Laknavaram Lake.
