Overview
- The Intermediate Education department will deploy the system across 430 government junior colleges covering about 1.8 lakh students along with teaching and non-teaching staff.
- Attendance will be captured twice daily in the morning and afternoon as part of the new protocol.
- Lecturers will mark their own attendance with a selfie and then take a classroom long-shot that is validated against registered faces and geo-coordinates.
- Parents will receive WhatsApp or SMS alerts to their registered mobile numbers when a student is absent.
- Colleges must pre-register each student’s credentials and photograph in the application, a change introduced after many biometric devices went defunct and manual registers returned.
