Overview
- Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy ordered permanent ghats at major temples along the Godavari, with priority for sites close to State and National Highways and expansion of existing facilities.
- Officials will conduct field surveys from Basar to Bhadrachalam, including Kaleshwaram and Dharmapuri, to develop site-specific plans in consultation with temple managements.
- The plan contemplates about 74 pushkar ghats along Telangana’s 560 km stretch of the river, with each designed to handle up to 200,000 pilgrims per day.
- Permanent works will cover roads, parking, drinking water, sanitation and traffic management to support large pilgrim flows during the 15-day event.
- Tourism, Irrigation and Endowments departments were told to coordinate closely, engage consultancies with Kumbh experience and pursue central support through schemes such as Swachh Bharat and Jal Jeevan Mission.
