Telangana Student Arrested in Hyderabad After US Deportation Over Fake Visa Documents

Police are now chasing leads to trace fellow students after the consultancy boss admitted providing false degrees for at least 15 applicants

  • 28-year-old Pakeeru Gopal Reddy was detained at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on June 1 after US immigration flagged his SEVIS status as inactive and deported him from Dallas.
  • Reddy secured his student visa using forged BSc Computer Science certificates purportedly issued by Madurai Kamaraj University to pursue a master’s programme at Webster University, Missouri.
  • Consultancy managing director Katoju Ashok was arrested on June 2 after confessing to supplying counterfeit academic documents to at least 15 students since 2020.
  • Authorities seized 150 forged mark sheets, provisional certificates, recommendation letters and ₹10 lakh in cash during searches of the consultancy’s offices in Hyderabad.
  • Investigators have expanded the probe to identify other students who may have travelled abroad on fraudulent credentials.
