- 28-year-old Pakeeru Gopal Reddy was detained at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on June 1 after US immigration flagged his SEVIS status as inactive and deported him from Dallas.
- Reddy secured his student visa using forged BSc Computer Science certificates purportedly issued by Madurai Kamaraj University to pursue a master’s programme at Webster University, Missouri.
- Consultancy managing director Katoju Ashok was arrested on June 2 after confessing to supplying counterfeit academic documents to at least 15 students since 2020.
- Authorities seized 150 forged mark sheets, provisional certificates, recommendation letters and ₹10 lakh in cash during searches of the consultancy’s offices in Hyderabad.
- Investigators have expanded the probe to identify other students who may have travelled abroad on fraudulent credentials.
